aLL Design were approached by the McGuigan family to design Shane McGugain's Boxing Gym within the TESTBED1® cultural complex. The gym’s site was originally a loading bay with a large shutter and a level change. The boxing ring and other equipment fitted perfectly into the lower ground floor area; the changing rooms, showers and reception were located beside the entrance area, on a mezzanine overlooking the gym.

On hot summer days the large garage shutter door opened to reveal the practice ring. The gym was used to train a number of celebrity athletes including Freddie Flyntoff, during his stint as a boxer, and professional boxer Carl "The Jackal" Frampton.

The gym at TESTBED1® closed in 2015 when the site in Battersea was marketed for sale to developers.
