A Bunch of Sticks

‘A bunch of sticks overhead’ was Alsop’s original sketch to illustrate ‘A person constructing their own cloud as shade’. Our designers have advanced the idea to create a micro-pavilion. Constructed from ‘found’ materials it provides a shaded area to picnic, read or people-watch.

Predominately timber and steel, we would follow a similar principle to that of our Neuron Pod, where an overhead structure’s surface is punctured and ‘planted’ with hundreds of ‘hairs’ - in this case with fine, strong timber sticks to create a nest-like quality. The seating and tables below are fixed to the supporting steel legs, like cabaret tables in a saloon.
