Raze it to the ground or build around?

24 June | 6.30pm - 8pm

Are architects at their most creative when they are allowed to demolish and work with a clean slate? Perhaps it’s when they have to preserve and integrate? Hear both sides and make your decision.

Inspired by the spirit and conviction of the late Will Alsop RA, The Royal Academy brings together practitioners, writers and critics to make conclusive arguments on the prime conditions for architectural creativity. Does working with existing buildings put a stop to any original ideas? Do clever architectural solutions only arise from interacting with a complex brief?

More information and tickets are available here.
